September 2008  - MD Fergus Foran Addresses Irish Cancer Society Volunteers

Precision Academy MD Fergus Foran has been invited to give a road safety presentation to volunteer drivers by the Irish Cancer Society. The presentation which takes place on Wednesday 17th September, will concentrate on Safety Critical issues. Foran (a cancer survivor himself) is delighted to be in a position to help the Cancer Society in any way he can.

He believes that teaching "Advanced" or "Defensive" driving techniques to non-professionals can be dangerous:

"In order to fully benefit from advanced training a driver must constantly practice. Even this alone is of limited benefit unless it is backed up by study and expert tuition and guidance on an ongoing basis." Telling someone that they are an "Advanced" or "Expert" driver after doing a short course should be avoided. My preference is for Driver "Safety" training."

This ethos is reflected in all commercial fleet driver courses provided by Precision Academy.

The emphasis is on driver safety and the courses offer guidance on how to become a safer driver in a short period of time.

Precision Academy's approach incorporates best practice models from around the world.
